What should a legislator ask about proposed legislation?

  1. Is it supported by plain reading of the Constitution?
  2. Does it support freedom?
  3. Does it apply to all people, instead of privileged or vilified groups?
  4. Is it necessary to protect our nation or ensure smooth functioning of society?
  5. Would I and my family be willing to live completely under its umbrella?
  6. Does it impact an area that civil society is unable to negotiate via the free market?
  7. Can a reasonably intelligent and interested person understand the legislation?

Only if ALL of these are “Yes” should a “yes” vote be considered.
